Garamond: The Font You Can Default On

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 9:34 pm

The idea to create a grass-roots campaign to increase Garamond’s use in papers began among friends at Yale. Unfortunately, a plan to spread the word never materialized (we did change the words on scaffolding around my freshman dorm from “no posting”  to “no pooping”).

But why couldn’t we just make a marketing campaign for Garamond? Perhaps a company could be convinced to co-finance the project.

Imagine Gap sponsoring the reintroduction of Garamond into the national culture. Says PR rep: “We think that Garamond really represents what the Gap brand means – classy, understated, and clean.”

Con to Non

Sometimes “confrontational” really isn’t the right word — more like “nonfrontational.” It is distinct in the sense that you are not against the opposite object. Let’s define it as: “wanting to stand up for yourself but not meaning harm.” Think of the other words — Nontrarian.

What is the difference? Exactly.

Didn’t to Haven’t

In today’s media, “I didn’t see it” doesn’t exist anymore. Now it’s

“I haven’t seen it.”
